Abstract

Background. The work is devoted to the study of methods for improving the energy efficiency of wireless sensor nodes. This problem is especially relevant given the limited time of sensors in wireless networks from built-in power sources.
Materials and methods. The main attention is paid to the operating modes of the sensor network with wake-up timer and event logging networks. In these modes, the sensor is either in sleep mode or waiting for an event up to 99 % of the time. An analysis of the energy consumption profile for sensors with timer wakeup and event logging has been performed.
Results. Specific technical solutions are proposed to increase the energy efficiency of all sensor subsystems, both in standby mode and in data transfer mode.
Conclusions. The proposed solutions can be used in the development of subsystems of sensor nodes of a new generation with an extended service life.
